| From Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas in the west, stretching east through Atlanta, Georgia and much of Florida, Zone 9 continues north through the Eastern Carolinas to Virginia Beach. An area primarily dominated by warm season grasses, such as bermuda, the northern extremes of the southern states including the Zone 9 portions north of Atlanta, also do well with tall fescues. Turf-Seed's Confederate is ideally suited for this climate. Featuring tall fescues developed at Pure Seed Testing's North Carolina facility, this blend has excellent tolerance to Brown Patch disease, heat and humidity. This blend provides an all around sun and shade turf ideal for all uses. With very good wear tolerance, Confederate is ideal suited for active family play. Keep in mind, that tall fescues are susceptible to dog damage caused by digging, spotting out and wear patterns. Slow to recover, these lawns may require an annual overseeding in the fall to repair and improve turf quality. Kentucky bluegrasses also perform well in the eastern portions of North Carolina, north through Virginia. 3-D Sod Blend and NuLawn Mixture, Sun/Shade Mixture feature the nation's number one variety, Midnight. Both blends have excellent color and quality performance for full sun and light shade situations. Midnight is also available and is best used to overseed existing bluegrass lawns for improved quality and performance. Turf Type Ryegrass Blend and Turf-Seed's Charger II perennial rye is also available for the fall overseeding of bermuda and other warm season grass turf. Charger II provides quick establishment and quality turf throughout the cooler months of the year. Turf-Seed's new seeded bermudagrass, Savannah, also performs exceptionally well throughout Zone 9. Easy to establish with mid-Spring plantings, Savannah forms a durable, drought tolerant turf in all sun locations. It's ideal for those favoring durability and a low mowed look. Keep in mind that Savannah will experience a period of dormancy during cooler months of the year, and may be overseeded with Charger II perennial ryegrass. |
