Full-Color Wildflower Seed Mixture

Dried Flowers Wildflower Seed Mixture
This wildflower garden seed mixture was designed to provide beautiful flowers and seed pods for dry flower arrangements.

Composed of long-lived perennials, annuals and biennials that produce attractive seed pods and flowers, for the dried flower enthusiast.

1 pound will cover approximately 500 square feet (20' x 25' area)

  • Works best in full sun areas
  • 9 species for flower drying and 5 species for pod and center cone drying
  • Can be sown in Spring or Fall
Achillea millefolium
"White Yarrow"
A pernnial that grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms spring-fall. White flowers in a cluster, fine feathery leaves ("millefolium" of a thousand leaves) with a pleasant fragrance when crushed. Plants are very adaptable, easy to grow from seed and are drought tolerant. Competitive with other plants and grasses. Native throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere.
Ammi majus
"Bishop's Weed"
A perennial that grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms insummer. Showy lacy umbrellas of white flowers. Easy to grow and long lasting.
Centaurea cyanus
"Cornflower"
An annual that grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms April - June. Bright blue flowers (button like) on multi-stemmed plants. Easy to grow from seed, a favorite of many and also known as Bachelor's Button. Adds a bright splash of color the first year. Naturalized throughout North America.
Consolida ambigua
"Rocket Larkspur"
A showy annual that grows 3-4 feet high with elegant spires of rounded blossoms in violet, pink, blue and white. Blooms in late spring to summer. Thrives in partial shade in well drained soils.
Echinacea Purpurea
"Purple Coneflower"
A perennial that grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms June - October. Flowers have lavender pink petals surrounding radiant red orange cone centers. Withstands drought and competes well with grasses. Native to the Midwestern and Southeastern U.S.
Gypsophila muralis
"Baby's Breath"
Grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms in summer. Well-branched stems with small blue-green eaves and delicate tiny white flowers n mass. Easily grown. Annual.
Linum perenne lewisii
"Prairie Flax"
(for seed pods)
A perennial that grows 1 to 1 1/2 feet high. Blooms in summer. Delicate blue saucer-shaped flowers borne on wiry stems above a basal rosette of small dark green leaves.
Nigella damascena
"Love-In-a-Mist"
An annual that grows to 2 feet high. Blooms in summer. Fine, thread-like, delicate leaves, surround blue or white flowers so that they appear in a mist. Easy to grow.
Oenothera lamarckiana
"Evening Primrose"
An annual that grows 2 1/2 - 3 feet high. Blooms in summer-fall. Large, showy, bright yellow flowers with 4 petals or lobes. Blooms during the day and is easily grown from seed.
Papaver rhoeas
"Shirley Poppy"
An annual that grows to 2 feet high. Blooms in summer. Long stems support showy single or semi-double flowers with tissue paper-like petals in shades of pink, rose, red and white; some bicolored Easy to grow.
Rudbeckia hirta
"Black-Eyed Susan"
A perennial that grows to 2 1/2 feet high. Blooms June - August. Flowers have brown domed centers surrounded by bright yellow ray petals. Thrives in most soils and full sun. Effective with grasses. Very competitive. Native to the U.S. east of the Rockies.
Scabiosa atropurpurea
"Sweet Scabiosa"
An annual that grows 1 1/2 to 3 feet high. Blooms in summer. Fragrant double flowers that are pink, blue, purple or white. Silvery filaments protrude from teh 2-4 inch blooms. Easy to grow.
Cilene armeria
"Sweet William Catchfly"
Grows to 1 1/2 feet high. Blooms in summer-fall Showy terminal clusters of deep pink tubular flowers. Annual.
Zinnia elegans
"Zinnia"
An annual that grows 2 1/2 to 3 feet high. Blooms summer-fall. Large flat petaled, semi-double flowers on strong stems in rose, orange, pink, scarlet, yellow or white. Easy to grow.
